This drum is truly 1 of a kind. There are lots of vintage marching snares on the market and there are "SNOMS" marketed by companies currently but this is the only Chrome over Steel Tom conversion that we're aware. This drum began it's life as a Ludwig tenor tom with no snare bed on the bottom edge, ie, a tom tom. Simply installing a Throw Off on this drum would not be successful as it would be impossible for ordinary snares to seat properly when under tension. The Rogers Dyna-Sonic snare frame is what makes this conversion successful allowing the pre tensioned snare wires to sit properly on a flat surface. The result is a drum that can achieve an actual tom sound with truly even tension on the bottom head and an actual snare response due to the pretensioned wires. It's a truly beautiful and useful combination. Use it as a huge arena rock snare, a delicate classical field drum or anything in between.
