Premier XPK drums set the benchmark for making superb drums available for a reasonable price and this shell pack is an example of exactly that. These beautiful gloss lacquered birch shells sing! We have made a few upgrades on this kit to bring it up to modern expectations. These drums were from an era where "suspension mounts" were only available on the most expensive drums and everyone thought it was clever to hang your floor tom from a cymbal stand. We have addressed both of these issues with this kit.
We removed the static shell mounted stock tom brackets and replaced them with INDe Drum Lab Suspension brackets giving these thin birch shells the ability to breathe and show just how full and resonant they can sound. We then took the rack tom brackets and installed them on the "floating" floor tom in a way that leaves no open holes exposed giving the drum the appearance that it may have come that way from the factory. The upgraded functionality of the floor tom on legs and rack toms that offer the kind of sound expected on drums 25 years newer than these. Finally, we replaced the worn out batter heads with the Evans American Upgrade pack featuring clear G2 tom heads and a clear EMAD bass drum head.
The end result is a modestly priced kit that sounds and behaves like a $1200 kit. With fresh heads and mounts, we've done all of the used kit follow up so you don't have to. Don't sleep on this one. Here's what's included:
